Smart Homes
Semtech's LoRa® devices and the LoRaWAN® protocol provide an ideal platform to address the indoor connectivity challenges of traditional platforms, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, or Z-Wave. Additionally, many Internet of Things (IoT) applications extend to the periphery of the home or into the yard. LoRa-based solutions offer the capability to connect these devices to the same platform, where the range of legacy systems falls short. Generally, these are battery operated devices which are well beyond the range of legacy connectivity technologies without installing additional repeater or mesh points. These applications include those for garages, door locks, outdoor lighting, pet geo-fencing, smart metering, leak detection, connected pest traps, soil chemistry, swimming pools, and more.

Real-World Deployments
See how LoRa devices have enabled efficiencies in these real-world smart home deployments.

Sindcon and IoT Kreasi Indonesia developed battery-powered smart meters utilizing LoRaWAN to eliminate the manual energy and water meter reading process from larger buildings with several tenants. The smart meters further benefit from LoRaWAN connectivity for remote control of the water meters.

eLichens’ avolta gas sensor featuring LoRa devices and the LoRaWAN standard detects natural gas (methane) leaks with ultra-selectiveness, allowing for instant alert of any devastating gas leak for response and potentially save lives.

Amazon Sidewalk is a crowd-sourced wireless network that can simplify device setup and extend the range for low bandwidth applications, leveraging LoRa to extend the range of a customer’s home network to connect both outdoor and indoor smart home products into the community.

Smart Mimic's MimicGO line of LoRa-based devices deploy indoor or outdoor to monitor condition changes in a range of applications, including door sensing, belonging movements and tampering, motion sensing in rooms, and open/closed status in drawers or safes, enabling safe and secure rooms and belongings.

YoSmart's YoLink line of IoT smart home products leverage LoRa devices’ advantages for simplified deployment to quickly connect a variety of home applications, including doors, security systems, electrical outlets, and water piping to accurately monitor data in real time and create safer, cost-efficient homes.

Talkpool’s portfolio of LoRa-based products enable enhanced data monitoring to reduce energy use and help prevent damage in real estate, maximizing real estate return on investment (ROI), as well as attracting and retaining tenants.

iioote's WebIoT platform and SenseIoT solutions for water leakage detecion and prevention in home and businesses leverages LoRa devices and the LoRaWAN protocol with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms to detect mold and humidity in at-risk locations, predicting and preventing costly damage.

iioote's LoRa-based humidity and temperature sensors prevent and combat water damage in smart homes and buildings.
